Nestled in the heart of the Black Forest, the Seilerhansenhof impresses not only with its stunning architecture but also with its lovingly curated interiors. Thoughtful pops of color—like the two Foscarini Couchin 1 pendant lights above the dining table—create an exciting composition of calm base elements and feminine design touches. A scenic country road leads from the rather unremarkable town of Furtwangen, winding past fields and farms to this secluded gem. The lack of mobile reception, paired with excellent Wi-Fi, perfectly illustrates the clash between seclusion and modernity.
Surrounded by nature, every room offers breathtaking views, while a charming little stream in the garden adds a touch of idyllic charm. This cozy retreat has everything you need—quality over quantity. The spacious corridor features an impressive curated library and toy collection that kept our kids happily entertained for three days. This German-Nordic gem is a fantastic spot for lovebirds as well as for families.
In the Black Forest, having a car is a must. With a baby and a toddler, it was important for us not to have to travel long distances. The following three trips are all a maximum of 40 minutes away. Since we visited in September during the off-season, crowds were not an issue.

-
Restaurant Breitbrunnen, Unterkirchnach (25min): A solid restaurant located in seclusion, featuring a lovely outdoor area and a small playground.
Spielscheune, Unterkirchnach (25min): A massive play area spread across three floors. Normally my nightmare, but with few people in the off-season, it's definitely manageable for the kids' sake. In nice weather, the free outdoor playground across the way is even better.
-
City trip to Villingen-Schwenningen (30min): It feels like a smaller Freiburg. There's a great little toy store for kids and two bookstores. We parked our car right next to the old town, where there was also a great playground.
-
Sommerrodelbahn, Gutach (35min): A small toboggan run with additional attractions like a trampoline, digger and mini cars.
Wasserspielplatz im Kurgarten, Schonach (20 min): A beautiful playground located right by a small lake, where you can paddle across on a raft and enjoy a drink at the little café.
